{"id":3099,"date":"2016-04-01T15:41:39","date_gmt":"2016-04-01T20:11:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/en\/?p=3099"},"modified":"2016-04-01T19:06:53","modified_gmt":"2016-04-01T23:36:53","slug":"the-cloacas-sewer-pipes-libraries-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/en\/the-cloacas-sewer-pipes-libraries-manager\/","title":{"rendered":"The CLOACAS Sewer Pipes Libraries Manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">In CLOACAS (SEWERS), our <b>Sanitary Sewer Design Software,<\/b> a dialog has been included which allows the creation of different pipe libraries and which will keep the hydraulic as well as the constructive and cost properties of the sewer pipes of your choice. <b>This article presents the characteristics of the Sewer Pipes Libraries Manager. <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Most often, sanitary drainage systems are made up of sewer pipes of the same material, usually concrete, but with different \u201cclasses\u201d and with each of them associated with the pipe\u2019s ability to withstand external loads at various depths.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Similarly, <b>there are numerous sewer pipe bedding classes<\/b>, each with a specific carrying capacity (or load factor), which also will contribute to a certain pipe class to withstand (or not) greater external loads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Based on the aforementioned considerations, the different fields available in the Sewer Pipes Libraries Manager have been set, and this dialog can be accessed from the <b>SETTINGS tab \u2192 Calculation Parameters panel \u2192 Pipes button:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3105\" title=\"The-Sewer-Pipes-Library-Manager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/01_The-Sewer-Pipes-Library-Manager.png\" alt=\"The-Sewer-Pipes-Library-Manager\" width=\"890\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/01_The-Sewer-Pipes-Library-Manager.png 890w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/01_The-Sewer-Pipes-Library-Manager-620x414.png 620w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/01_The-Sewer-Pipes-Library-Manager-768x513.png 768w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/01_The-Sewer-Pipes-Library-Manager-218x146.png 218w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/01_The-Sewer-Pipes-Library-Manager-50x33.png 50w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/01_The-Sewer-Pipes-Library-Manager-112x75.png 112w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 890px) 100vw, 890px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From this dialog it is possible to:<\/p>\n<h3>1. Set the sewer pipes\u2019 geometrical and hydraulic properties.<\/h3>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">For each pipes library, it is possible to specify a range of diameters so that our Sanitary Sewer Design Software is able to select, when the automatic design options are used, the one that meets the project\u00b4s design hydraulic conditions. <b>The internal diameter will be used in hydraulic calculations, together with the Manning\u2019s Friction Coefficient<\/b>. <b>The nominal diameter will be used to \u201cname\u201d the size of the sewer pipe <\/b>in the results tables.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\"><div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#e5c971;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#FFE38B;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\">\n<p class=\"Body\"><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">It is important to note that<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\"> in the automatic design of the pipe sections in the sanitary drainage system, specifically in determining the sewer pipe\u00b4s diameter, <b>the software will take as maximum available diameter the highest value that the user has specified in the library assigned to the respective pipe section<\/b>, whether or not this diameter satisfies the design conditions (hydraulic capacity, full flow velocity, etc.).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">It is therefore recommended <b>to be aware of the messages that the software will generate<\/b>, for example, <b>changing the color of the value in the field Qr\/Qc<\/b> in the sewer pipes table at the main window (SEWER\u00a0PIPES\u00a0tab). <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\"><\/div><\/div>\n<h3>4. Specify, for each sewer pipe diameter, the permissible depths for three types of bedding classes, so that the program automatically set the required bedding in the automatic design.<\/h3>\n<p>By default, our Sanitary Sewer Design Software allows us to use three types of bedding classes:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list_check\">\n<li><strong>Type &#8216;A&#8217; Bedding. <\/strong>This is the one with a greater bearing capacity, generally formed by a concrete bed on which the sewer pipe rests.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Type &#8216;B&#8217; Bedding. <\/strong>This offers an intermediate load capacity, consisting of a granular bedding.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Type &#8216;C&#8217; Bedding. <\/strong> This is the one with the lowest capacity, considering that the placement of the pipe is directly over the excavated soil.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following image shows these pipe bedding types:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3101\" title=\"sewer-pipes-bedding-classes\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/06_sewer-pipes-bedding-classes.png\" alt=\"sewer-pipes-bedding-classes\" width=\"659\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/06_sewer-pipes-bedding-classes.png 659w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/06_sewer-pipes-bedding-classes-620x542.png 620w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/06_sewer-pipes-bedding-classes-167x146.png 167w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/06_sewer-pipes-bedding-classes-50x44.png 50w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/06_sewer-pipes-bedding-classes-86x75.png 86w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 659px) 100vw, 659px\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#e5c971;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#FFE38B;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\">\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">It is to be noted that in the software, at no time are calculations of load capacity of the pipe made when combined with any of the referred bedding classes. In fact, <b>the dimensions that must be specified in the Pipe Beddings tab<\/b>, at the <b>Excavation and Materials Parameters Settings dialog<\/b>, <b>are used only for the purpose of determining the respective quantities of work<\/b> (excavation and backfilling).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">It is therefore important that the user has information, usually provided by sewer pipes manufacturers, about the maximum allowable burial depths to use when similar to those bedding classes included here are used with their pipes.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Thus, <b>with the sewer pipe\u2019s load capacity data to be specified in the current library<\/b>, it is necessary <b><i>to define the minimum and maximum depth values in each pair of columns, for each bedding class:<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3102\" title=\"allowable-burial-depths-for-sewer-pipes\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/07_allowable-burial-depths-for-sewer-pipes.png\" alt=\"allowable-burial-depths-for-sewer-pipes\" width=\"895\" height=\"608\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/07_allowable-burial-depths-for-sewer-pipes.png 895w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/07_allowable-burial-depths-for-sewer-pipes-620x421.png 620w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/07_allowable-burial-depths-for-sewer-pipes-768x522.png 768w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/07_allowable-burial-depths-for-sewer-pipes-215x146.png 215w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/07_allowable-burial-depths-for-sewer-pipes-50x34.png 50w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/07_allowable-burial-depths-for-sewer-pipes-110x75.png 110w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 895px) 100vw, 895px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">An important aspect added to this dialog <b>is the possibility of setting the bedding class selection criteria using the software\u2019s automatic design option<\/b>. As can be seen in the <b>Bedding Class Selection Priority box <\/b>(above image), you have two options:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"list_flecha\">\n<li><strong>A \u2013 C:\u00a0<\/strong>States that, according to the minimum and maximum depths resulting in any particular sewer pipe section and, of course, depending on the assigned diameter and pipe library<strong>, the software will first check the column for Type &#8216;A&#8217; bedding class<\/strong>. In case the design\u2019s depths are within its depth\u2019s range, this will be the selected bedding; otherwise, the values for Type <strong>&#8216;<\/strong>B&#8217; will be checked and so on until the\u00a0 Type <strong>&#8216;<\/strong>C&#8217; values, in order to set the final pipe section\u2019s bedding class.<\/li>\n<li><strong>C \u2013 A:<\/strong> This is the inverse approach to the previous case. T<strong>he software will start the bedding class selection based on the depths values \u200b\u200bof the Type &#8216;C&#8217; bedding class and<\/strong>, <strong>in case it is not possible to use it, it will then move to type &#8216;B&#8217; and, finally, to type \u2018A.&#8217;<\/strong> <strong>This is our Sanitary Sewer Design Software default optio<\/strong>n, which is, of course, the one that generates the lower cost solution, if applicable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#167dc1;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#3097DB;border-color:#fcffff;color:#FFFFFF;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\">\nFor example, a sewer pipe\u2019s library has been assigned to a particular pipe section and the automatic design option determined that its nominal diameter must be 250 mm. For this library, the following allowable depths have been entered:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3103\" title=\"sewer-pipe-bedding-class-selection-example\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/08_sewer-pipe-bedding-class-selection-example-620x226.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"226\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/08_sewer-pipe-bedding-class-selection-example-620x226.png 620w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/08_sewer-pipe-bedding-class-selection-example-768x280.png 768w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/08_sewer-pipe-bedding-class-selection-example-260x95.png 260w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/08_sewer-pipe-bedding-class-selection-example-50x18.png 50w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/08_sewer-pipe-bedding-class-selection-example-150x55.png 150w, https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/08_sewer-pipe-bedding-class-selection-example.png 910w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">In the hydraulic design of this sewer pipe section, the software <b>detected a minimum depth of 1.50 m and a maximum of 1.80 m<\/b>. <b>When the A-C priority option is checked, the program will select the bedding class &#8216;A&#8217; <\/b>for the pipe because, for its diameter, <b>it could be placed at depths between 0.8 and 4.90 m.<\/b> Both values \u200b\u200b\u201ccover\u201d the actual depths of the pipe section.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Now, <b>using the C-A priority option, the software will select the bedding class &#8216;B&#8217; for this sewer pipe section <\/b>because, when reviewing the minimum and maximum depths for type &#8216;C&#8217; (first searching option in this case), it is found that the minimum depth is admissible (1,45 m &lt; 1.50 m), but its maximum (1,80 m &gt; 1.75 m) is not.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<h3>6. Set, for each diameter, the Sewer Pipe Unit Cost (per length).<\/h3>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">For the purpose of calculating the total cost of supply and installation of sewer pipes in the <b>sanitary drainage system\u2019s project<\/b>, you can define its cost per unit of length.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#e5c971;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#FFE38B;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\">\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">It is important to note that <b>this unit cost will not be modified by the software in the event that, when initially introduced, it was associated with one unit of length (meters, for example) and then the user changes to another unit (feet, for example)<\/b>.
