{"id":2297,"date":"2015-02-02T19:25:18","date_gmt":"2015-02-02T23:55:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/?p=2297"},"modified":"2015-02-02T19:25:18","modified_gmt":"2015-02-02T23:55:18","slug":"two-new-features-in-the-arietes-most-recent-version-our-water-hammer-software-which-you-must-know","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/en\/two-new-features-in-the-arietes-most-recent-version-our-water-hammer-software-which-you-must-know\/","title":{"rendered":"Two New Features in the Ariete\u2019s most recent version, our Water Hammer Software, which you must know"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In Ariete\u2019s version 1.1. we have included, besides some bugs corrections<strong>, two new features that will allow users to have more control over the hydraulic parameters <\/strong>used in the pipeline\u2019s water hammer calculation.<\/p>\n<p>These improvements have arisen from the suggestions of several of our water hammer software licensees, so we hope they will be useful in their water pipeline design works.<\/p>\n<h2>Specifying Valve Loss Coefficients (Kv)<\/h2>\n<p>In the previous version, it wasn\u2019t possible to modify those values, as they were fixed and based on the available literature and in function to the open percentage of each of the three types of flow control valves included in Ariete.<\/p>\n<p>In this new release, <strong>Add and Delete Rows options have been included in Valve<\/strong><strong>\u2019<\/strong><strong>s Kv Editor<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3999\" title=\"Entering-the-valve-loss-coefficients\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/01_Entering-the-valve-loss-coefficients.png\" alt=\"Entering-the-valve-loss-coefficients\" width=\"877\" height=\"593\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Thus, for each of the available types of Valve (Gate, Butterfly, and Needle), the user is able to specify his own data and keep them saved into the project\u2019s file.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, an &#8217;emergency&#8217; button has been included so you can restore the valve loss coefficients values that Ariete, by default, includes:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4000\" title=\"restoring-defaul-valve-loss-coefficients\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/02_restoring-defaul-valve-loss-coefficients.png\" alt=\"restoring-defaul-valve-loss-coefficients\" width=\"679\" height=\"418\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#e5c971;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#FFE38B;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\">\n<p>When this reset button is used, <strong>the values for all three available types of valve will be modified<\/strong>, so that any changes made by the user will be discarded.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<h2>Water Hammer\u2019s Pressure Wave Speed Calculation<\/h2>\n<p>While the wave speed automatic calculation option is maintained in this version of Ariete, we have added an additional button besides wave speed text box in the <strong>Pipeline Data dialog<\/strong>, with which the users can access a new dialog to specify their own data for the calculation of this very important parameter in Water Hammer calculation:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4001\" title=\"Water-hammer-wave-speed-calculation\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/03_Water-hammer-wave-speed-calculation.png\" alt=\"Water-hammer-wave-speed-calculation\" width=\"901\" height=\"561\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So the ability is given to the user to specify their own values \u200b\u200bfor this calculation, as well as the possibility, <strong><em>by pressing the button &#8216;Use this value,<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u2019<\/em><\/strong> to automatically change the value in the Wave Speed \u200b\u200bfield by the calculated one:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4002\" title=\"Water-hammer-wave-speed-calculation-updating value\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hidrasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/04_Water-hammer-wave-speed-calculation-updating-value.png\" alt=\"Water-hammer-wave-speed-calculation-updating value\" width=\"788\" height=\"709\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#e5c971;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#FFE38B;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\">\n<p>Care should be taken <strong>to certify that the parameters entered in this dialog lead to fair wave speed values<\/strong> because, when pressing the button \u201c<strong><em>Use this value,<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u201d<\/em><\/strong> the automatic calculation option incorporated in Ariete will be overridden.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, when <strong><em>disabling the check box <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u201c<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Set Wave Speed [m\/s],<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u201d<\/em><\/strong> <strong>the automatic calculation will be restored<\/strong>, based on the parameters entered in the Geometry group inside the Pipeline Data dialog and in conjunction with those that Ariete internally incorporates, depending on the selected pipe material.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>As you see, Ariete, the water hammer software, now has two new features that will facilitate your calculations.
