Know Plumber: The Plumbing Design Software

Plumber is our proposal for the calculation and design of plumbing water supply installations in buildings..

Designed to determine not only the operating pressures of the various fixtures within the water supply installations but to make the calculations automatically of the pressure required to meet the operating pressure, usually established by applicable regulations, in the less favored plumbing fixture of the system.

While there are several options for plumbing design software in the market, Plumber seeks to differentiate itself through the following key features:

  • Presents an interface in which the calculations and results of the plumbing design are presented in tabular form, separating the plumbing fixtures (nodes) of the pipes which are also separated by type of supply (cold or hot water).

  • Contains, in one file or project, the various plumbing systems that are part of the building. Additionally it can, in the same project where networks were created, have tables for calculating the vertical water supply pipe or riser to the various plumbing installations in that building. In this way, the whole project of plumbing installations is managed by the designer more easily.
  • In its first version, it implements plumbing design through the HUNTER method (fixture units) making it possible for the user to define, for each plumbing fixture, the physical, operational, and design characteristics required by the corresponding Sanitary Standards.

  • Performs plumbing design (calculation of pipe diameters) according to two criteria: based on a design flow speed (the most used criterion in practice) or based on a unitary head loss.

  • Implements head losses calculation in pipes through two variants of the method of equivalent length: Sets a percentage increase over the actual length of pipe, or defining, for each fitting to be installed in each section of pipe, the equivalent length from the Table of Equivalent Lengths of the project.

  • When calculating Head Losses by the Equivalent Length of fittings option is selected in the design of plumbing water supply, Plumber allows the user to specify values for each fitting to be used in the calculation:

  • Automatically generates lists of fittings and plumbing fixtures for each plumbing system, for the riser and the project’s total. Adds, in function of the diameters of each pipe section, the necessary reducer fittings once that the calculation of the net is performed.

  • Provides the user with warning messages related to situations detected in the calculation of the plumbing water supply project.

  • Obtains, depending on the calculation performed and operation constraints of the plumbing fixtures in the plumbing system, the exact pressure required at the feed point of the network (both at each installation level and as the feed point of riser). Even so, when you are not at the stage of plumbing design, it is possible to determine the fixture supply pipe outlet pressure for a user-specified pressure in the net´s feed point (calculation mode).
  • Has a selector of units in which the user can specify independently the unit in which the diameter, pressure, speed, and other parameters will be displayed.

Plumber is, thus, an interesting option to whoever takes plumbing design seriously, as it allows consideration of all the variables involved in the calculation of this type of hydraulic system. So download the trial version, or if you prefer, take advantage of its low cost and purchase the full version of what we hope will be the best plumbing design software.
